Well none of those are sa/ca cichlids, they are cichla and aro mostly.

10-20 full grown in a 180? I will call BS on that. I would say an acceptable overstocking of sa/ca cichlids in a 180 would be somewhere between 8-12, depending on the types of fish. I don't think anyone on here has 20 jags in a 180. Thats stupid.

My G/F has an overstocked 75, with 10 cichlids and thats the most I have ever seen, but more than 3 are firemouths or convicts, and some are growouts for me :D. But once again, not all are big, and its technically a growout tank.

No CA/SA? What about the P bass, RD, vieja....LMAO @ you on that one...

My tank is a little overstocked but not even close to that one. Personally I like my fish to be able to have their own territories and act more natural. His fish might not fight but they look about as comfortable as these folks:

Your friend is correct....Tokyo style is in full effect here...:) Meet "THE TRUST"....He is not the only one...Just one of the best ones...

That tank is AWESOME!. When I worked at a local fish store I learned a lot including people put lots of fish in big tanks. we would have people come in all the time and buy big trade ins if they put them in their tank and couldn't hang they brought them back eventually they had all fish that would live together. always real aggressive species like red devils, buttokoferi(sp?), Dovii and just about any other fish you could think of.

Many asian members keep there fish in small tanks some are very over crowded some fish are in horrible condition, but alot of other people know how to take care of them and keep them healthy. Sure the fish would love a bigger tank but there perfectly healthy the way they are. I think thats better then a fish in the right size tank thats not being taken care of. So don't diss all asians some treat fish like crap and see them as replaceable or just as food, but theres plenty of asians that care for them and respect them as the fascinating creatures they are. which is what keeping fish is all about .

As for crowding cichlids, when people wan't Big cichlids that are colorful and/or aggressive. They find that most of these fish are territorial. When you try to keep just a few the large cichlids in a tank those large cichlids will set up large territories. When theres not enough room for a territory because theres another cichlids territory in the way they fight for it. In the wild the loser swims away but in aquariums theres no place to swim to so the fights are useually to the death.

so crowding is to pack a large number of cichlids in a large tank, people recommend a tank ATLEAST 6 feet long. (which is why alot of people try it with 180s) Bigger is better but the main point of over crowding tanks it to get rid of territories. Spreding out aggression comes next, with so many large cichlids in a small space they can't make territories. If they don't have a territory to defend or a mate to fight over or with then they don't fight nearly as much.

over crowding can work with fish the same size and around the same aggression level. It just takes alot of work. Some people don't have a problem keeping 10-20 cichlids in a smaller size tank with huge filtration and changing around 80% of the water every week.

sorry for the big post lots to be said

Are you under 3ft tall? Don't act like you want to see something and then spam the thread...learn to use the edit option.....And poopsmart if cichla are not SA/CA cichlids...what are they? His tank owns and all fish are healthy....

:ROFL::headbang2 I think the fact that you're bashing someone for being asian proves that you are under 3 ft tall, because it's obviously a jealousy issue! That is a bunch of the best looking fish you will ever see, even the non-sa/ca. :D You can have your own opinion, but I'm going to say you probably don't have one fish that looks as good as any one in that tank.....
