So like most people know petco is going to be having there 1$ per gallon sale and i wanted to get 40 gallon but im wondering if its worth the deal. Should i go and buy the 40 gallon for a doller a gallon and then buy the light and glass top separate? or should i just go to petsmart and get the 40 gallon, light, and glass top all for $104? Now that i think about it if im going to need a light and glass top the $1 per gallon just doesn't sound like a deal since it doesn't come with the light and top. I can see it being a deal at petco if you went with a diy top and light but since im going to buy the light and glass lid is petsmarts 40 gallon a better idea?

It shouldn't cost 64 dolars for a glass top and light unless your buying some kind of fancy light. Even with that said it will still be close. Your not saving a huge amount of money buying the whole kit at Petsmart or buying the tank at Petco then buying lights and top at Petsmart. It would be close to a point. I would go with the Petco tank and just DIY it personally.

have you looked on Craigslist to see if there are any complete set ups around you for a good deal.

Craigslist is great that is how I found my 180.
But the Petco deal is great!!!!-I bought 2 40 gallon tanks @ 1.00 per gallon.
As far as a top ----dont use one--go to ebay and invest in a cheap t-I set up.
Bulbs last long and you can grow plants.

I was at the store tonight and saw a 24'' florescent shop light with 2 bulbs for $12. Im sure i could set that up above the tank. As for the lid ill probably just buy a glass one. Anyone know how much a glass lid for a 40 gal breeder would be?
$1 per gallon? That sounds awesome. When will this sale be going on? I am really interested in a 40g breeder for my SUMP and I found one on craigslist for $50 but that is not as good as $40 and the tank would be brand new. If you have details on this sale I would really appreciate it.
