stopped going to lfs all the time, that and my tank is stocked to the brim..,. sold a 150 from my garage so i didnt set it up... promised myself just two tanks my 35 and my 300. i still buy fish and sell some on but im not half as bad as i used to be!

ive been trying to appreciate the fish i have instead of wondering about all the fish i havent got!

The question is what you are doing with all these fish you buy. Are you giving them proper care? Do they keep dieing? Are you habitually buying fish you know you wont house for life? I dont see an issue in buying fish, as long as you know what they need for care and are able to provide for them like any other pet. Ofcourse going hungry to afford to buy more fish isnt healthy, but im somewhat certain that isnt the case(if it is the case get off MFK, it isnt helping, and go see a psychiatrist

is it a waste of money when you keep and keep on buying fish instead of using your money on more important stuff
what are your opinions about this

of course, but i would sell my fish tht i have now to buy other fish. i mean like when i start to get bored of keeping and watching the same fish everyday, i would sell them and look for others. hahah
and another issue is, if u keep buying fish, u will overstock.

its addiction guys like when you start smoking you cant stop no matter how much you try

That's why I said get psychiatric help! I'm serious! Its not just fish, people do this with all kinds of animals, its called hoarding, you may not have a "hoard" right now but it sounds like your on the way.

Unless of course you can properly house them all for life, if your like Oddball and can manage an insane amount of tanks, go for it. Make sure you know you its the fish and not just the feeling of obtaining a new animal that's making you have so many tanks.

I do have some personal exp, a friends mom was that cat lady. She would be so excited when getting a new cat, even though she had like 15-20. In a 3 bedroom ranch. It was sad really, I know that's a bit more extreme then buying new fish a lot but the same situation in a few fish tanks would be just as disturbing to other hobbyists. Maybe not the average person but I know when I see like 20-30 fish crammed in a tank and you can barely see water it makes me mad

no its not like that i have 7 tanks in total 1200 gallon being my biggest. i care for my fish i make sure i dont overstock tanks. the problem for me is when i see a new rare fish it temps me to buy it then i buy a new tank i need to get a new intrest

I think maybe you should have your fish benefit you and be patient in my opinion. The fish I want, well the fish everyone generally wants are expensive. I decided that if I buy a new fish, my current fish have to "pay" for it. For example, I will be breeding stingrays in the near future and if I want to purchase a new fish after that I will only be able to purchase it from the money I make from selling the pups. Everyone wants fish, but if it's money that is the issue than have your fish benefit you.

If fish are coming before your current responsibilities (family, job, etc.) you need to find outside help.
