is it wrong to "steal" plants

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
All depends where you're at. I forget where but I was with my family and we decided to try and take some rocks or something (I know, not plants) and ended up getting in trouble

You should be fine, though. Unless it's like a national park or something, it shouldn't cause a fuss.

Maybe just change the word "steal" to "rehome" and it should be all good.
Btw; I was able to get some cool little anchor worms from a wild bass I "rehomed".

Good luck

When you put too much thought into something, it can make you go crazy. It is just like if you were to ask someone that had one too many drinks " is this a dream or reality". But for some, drinks are not required. Ha Ha.

I once took some vals from a local pond.. I don't know it just seemed like a better idea than buying them from my LFS, long run I found a dragonfly nymph in my tank a week later made a cool pet until my crappie decided it was dinner. Aside from that, the vals grew fine and luckily no parasites and such besides the nymph were ever found.

I forgot to mention that this was a native tank, so I guess I wasn't really taking
that high of a risk. I wouldn't put wild plants in with anything I valued.

everyone knows it's a dream within a dream within someone else's dream within someone else's dream and if you aren't careful, you'll end up in limbo. Gotta love inception and gotta love southpark making fun of it last wednesday

Are you intending on returning the plants when the water thaws?

You should never return anything to a river...much more dangerous.

And, I'm not looking for on advice if I should, just wanted to see what other people thought about it :)

I don't see a problem with it. Nature isn't going to miss a few plants, and they will grow back the following spring. It's not like you're going out and clear-cutting miles of riverbed and poisoning the water so nothing else will grow.

All the better too if you happen to target an invasive species like eurasian watermilfoil or something. Just don't do it if it's against the law. Some aquatic plants fall under wildflower protection regulations that some states have in place.
