That little guy is looking great, you should be proud of him, they have all the same personality as a Midas but more colour than those ugly grey barred Midas´that everyone seems to enjoy so much for some reason.

I love mayans and think they are a better prize than Festae's. You see Festae's that look great on here all the time but how many good looking adult mayans do you see? Not many because no one gives them the chance they deserve. Nice fish I hope I come across one again cuz ill snatch it quick

They are very common in Mexico (in the wild), but not in the hobby. Most people only want terrors, so they are more common.

I just picked up a 1.5 inch mayan and it is totally drab i hope it gets to look like yours in an inch or two
all those mayans look great by the wayIn southern California they are very common almost every lfs I go to had them or has had then recently they label them as true festaes but they are Mayans and I personally dont like them my buddy had two that killed alot of his fish and were just evil I would much rather have a festae but good luck to you and your mayan

But the thing is; the Festaes are more PRETTY than the Mayans. "pretty"

I'm sorry even though my 11" female had a 90g to herself im pretty sure a festae is much much meaner than a Mayan, so even if he had picked up true festaes he wouldve lost those fish.
