So far for me, not so bad.

Admittedly, my recent mini-obsession with setting up a shelly tank, and the discussions that have transpired because of my interest have created an immediacy that I can't seem to shake.

I have also been influenced (swayed) towards putting more schooling tetras in my 55g (so far a good decision)

So what has MFK influenced your wallet to do lately?
:D

Buy more fish. haha

TTT for the morning crew
COME ON! What has MFK influenced you to buy/setup?

its not been too bad for me... although since the day i saw one members huge paludarium it got me wanting to setup one myself... So when my 25G was freed up i decided to have a go converting it into one which so far has cost me around $150 give or take in equipment... although with that being said i still need to buy lights, plants and fish...

I started with a free 20L aquarium setup from a friend at work 5 years ago. I upgraded directly to a 125g aquarium. Then I got a 20H. Then I got a 55g. Then another 125g. Then got rid of 1 of the 125g. Then got a 220g and 90g. Then got rid of the 55g. Then got a 30g. Got rid of the 30g and got a 56g.

I currently have:
220g
125g
90g
56g
20L
20H
10g
30g snake tank
4x2x2 iguana cage
5hx36wx30d glass terrarium (empty)

I've spent several thousand dollars just on fish in these last 5 years. Not to mention the food, substrate, filters, pumps, lights, electricity, driftwood, stands to go along with the tanks.

I'd estimate that if I never started keeping fish, I'd have about $5,000-7,500 more than I currently have in the bank...

terrible influence lol, more about the avialability to fish you would not ever see in your LFS. Then after getting those fish, you know you need a bigger tank....it just keeps going and going from there.

Id have to agree. Before mfk I was clueless about fish keeping. I had a 55g and thought it was a large tank. I had an oscar that I knew would need an upgrade. Well I upgraded and then found mfk. I had no idea the amount of species available. Now i am addicted to rare fish. I love rare cichla...and we all know how cheap they are. Im not mad...but id have to agree...Id have $5k+ extra spent on something else.

Thanks Li for feeding our addictions :)

I've gotten to the point where I can't go into an lfs and go--"WOW I have to have one of those!!!!!!"... I have better stuff at home :naughty:. I agree with Kev, as to the availability of rare and not often seen fish for sale on here. I've learned a lot from this site. I went from my huge 55g tank to having filters bigger than that :grinno:...So how has MFK influenced me? Not a lot/and a lot. This site has given me valuable info on proper care -- + I've always been looking for something even before this site :grinno:.

Cheers to MFK being a great site.
I have always had good taste in fish, but with this board - I see fish I want, and can't seem to find them in LFS, so it becomes an easter egg hunt.

I finally have a weak lead on Neo shells for my shelly tank. Even at $4 a pop, I think that searching for them and knowing that they are near impossible to get, is a driving force.

I already warned my GF that my house (when I have one) will be chock full of tanks. She said "as long as you take care of them and I don't have to, you can go nuts"
I love her :D

Well, maybe a bad influence. Currently running 2 reef tanks with refugiums. A monster Aro tank. Turtle tank. Tortoise enclosure and a pond. Power bill is at an all time high. The electric co. kept sending letters on how to conserve, finally called them and told them the above and, that I was interested in solar!
