Yes, for sure. I, for one, come from a long line of tinkerers, hobbyists, mechanics, DIY'ers, builders, and fishermen. Fishkeeping is like the perfect mix of all of those.
i beleive it is to lol one day i just told myself *why dont i start keeping fish* out of the blue and bugged and bugged my mom and her ex ex to get me my first tank lol, and when i get mad/black out i will punch ANYTHING i mean ANYTHING but when i look at my fish tank bout ready to punch somthing the tank cools me down and i know deep in my heart i wil never beable to punch a glass thats holding lil life creatures!
i found out that the father i have never met always kept fish which i didnt know ... and my grandfather on my mothers side who died 15 years before i was born was a breeder for years when he was my current age ..
my family just found out how much i am into fish in the past couple years .. and told me about the family history just this year.. who would of thought that keeping fish was in our blood ..
I say "no" because no one in my family (elders) have kept fish...they eat them but don't keep them.
I started the hobby as early as I can remember in my childhood, and now I got my older brother to take part in this hobby a little. So I might be the first generation of this gene/blood for my offsprings...
