noticed this on my gold wolf the scales are gone and looks like it is being eaten by something it is alone in the tank water prams ammonia zero nitrate below 5.0 it is very skittish and was wondering if it damaged itself on some decor or being eaten by some sort of bacteria hard to get a good shot as it dose not keep still I have marked the area with a black line

based off that pic, the fins look good, and he doesn't look like he's starving. Like kno4te said, better/ more pics would help. Gold wolves are pretty active, what size tank do you have him in? They are seem to need the company of other fish to relax from my experience. They guys are swimmers, not ambush predators like other wolves. Ever seen the videos of them in the wild? They actually school.

it is in a 300 L 4 foot tank yes very active and feeding well so hard to get a good shot. yes seen the video of them in shoals will try another hot when the lights come on

Last photos are good enough. Fins look intact. Hard to make out the wounds or bacterial issues.
Water change routine?

water change 30% weekly the red on gill plates are on both sides but that seems to be natural colouring as it got bigger that colouring appeared just googled some photos of gold wolf some appear to have that depression near the rear and some don't so maybe natural but it just looked odd to me.

My gold also have that red on both gills. From what i've observe (water parameter) and i've read, it's natural. About the scales, its not missing as far as i know from my gold, it's more bright color like white-ish on that part. My gold also have that. And so far, my gold healthy and keep growing, faster than my red wolf. I keep change the water about 5% every 3 days in the first 2 months.
