I Picked up 130gallon tank a few weeks ago and im noticing that my Gt just sits under the driftwood and dosent really cruise around like he used to, only change iv done with anything is just the new tank from 50g to 130g. He eats alittle less now but isnt showing signs of sickness, color is still very nice. Its like hes bored or somthing. I put a male convict in with him 2 weeks ago thinking that would give him somthing to do but no luck. My water is spot on,nitrite and ammonia is 0, nitrates were 20, which is reasonable, but i still did a nice water change. Substrate is black gravel, lava rock kinda crushed, big peices of driftwood and a couple floating plants. He used to race to the front wen i showed him food, not anymore, he used to cruise around alot but hes just chillen now, im kinda lost and hope hes ok. Any help or suggestions please??:(

Is the lighting brighter? If it is the shade provided by the driftwood may make him more comfortable in the new surroundings. How long ago did you move him?

The lighting was my guess, too. Is it just the con and the GT in the 130? I love the idea of giving fish plenty of space, but that seems like a lot (not excessive, there's no such thing). Thought about dithers or any other tankmates?

Here is a pic of him hanging out. Yeah, only Gt and Convict in there, there is lots of room for somthing else but i dunno what i want to put in. Was thinkin of silver aro but its 130g so i dunno if thats big enough.

Silver aro will NOT fit in a 130g. He may be just settling in

Yeah 4 weeks is probably long enough....

has the tank's position in the room changed? Is there more traffic at the new location/level?

Do you tap on the glass and scream at it? maybe he is scared of you? jk....

The aro would not be able to live in there for life. The GT looks good, and I like how the two fish managed to be in the same shot with that space. You have a fair amount of options as far as adding fish. Basically all of the common dithers are options for you. I also think you are in the position where you can safely add different cichlids to find the magic combination if you are willing.

Tank is in a diffrent position, same room, same traffic but this tank is higher off the ground this time, about 1 foot or so. My old 50g tank was closer to the ground. But its been like 4 weeks, how long do they need to settle down?? I dont tap or scream, the tank now is behind the dinner table against the wall so the wife and i will sit at the table and watch. We will even sit at the couch and watch from far away so he cant see us, and he still just sits most of the time.
