Is my lid secure enough?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There's still a sponge filter, I got rid of the HOB since it wasn't doing much anyway. I had already put the media from it in another tank to get the nitrogen cycle started.

You guys have talked me out of getting a ropefish... sounds like a royal pain :D.

ropes are great the only thing I would change for ropes in the 75 would be a finer mesh for the back and tape the seams by the airlines. Ropes usually jump within a week or 2 of getting in a new tank(not always) provide them with enough hides and it usually isn't a problem with a decent fitting lid(I lost 2 in a week to bad temporary lids) but have had as many as 6 at a time

I duct taped all the openings just to be safe. Took the HOB out too.

they look good

My ropes have not jumped with the rims as far as I know and I just have a plastic lid, on the other hand your tank looks like fish alcatraz!

here is what i did with my 75 that has ropes in it. I've replaced the silver duct tape for black but other than that it's worked out well

:iagree:
Polys jump. Your water level has 0 to do with it.
Ropes dont jump so much. More like climb and get to places you'd think impossible. A lower water level may help....? Not saying they cant or won't jump though.

Good point. I swear at some point im gonna set up. Rope tank.

The other day the family was messing around while the tank was draining, the baby threw something at the tank and sent them into a panic frenzy. The congicus jumped and slammed the lid soo hard that lid popped up a few inches. Those lids are heavy gotta be close 20lbs
