Is my motoro dieing?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for advice. Will try o poly filter , and leave water for another 4 days, b4 another wc. I've added salt so 1kg for the 450 l.
Will post any progress asap.

I would get some of the fecal matter and run a slide of it under a microscope. Ruling out disease is one of the easier things to do, and it is also one of the easiest things to fix (once you know what to treat).

It's not looking good now. This morning, motoro is curling disc more.
Still not eaten .
Looks like disc rot in 2 places. And the White skin under Neath at disc edge is missing or started to fall off in some areas.
Breathing slowly.
Did an er water change yesterday night. Now wait and hope.

Maybe you should try flushing your tank. 50% WC one after another with an hour or 2 in between.

Sorry to hear your ray is ill.

Well according to Ross, the etiology of disc (death) curl is unknown. But he hypothesizes that it is a neurological affect secondary to stress.

Now, he doesn't really define in the passage what he is calling stress whether it's water parameters, physical abuse from tankmates, etc., etc., etc. But unfortunately he doesn't say the outlook is good. Once the disc starts curling :(.

Jake, sharptooth... And eveyone else, appreciate your advice.

He is still breathing this morning. But no major signs of recovery.

It does seem that the ray had an adverse
reaction to the med, although i did notice White poo before dosing.

The 7 day dose of kazuri is 6 days through now, I am considering doing 50% wc tank flush out, but in end will do 20-25% daily or every other day.

Personally I would do at least a 40 to 50% and retreat. Leave lights off and create at
as little as possible stress during the change.

I think the best bet would be to remove the meds by a large waterchange and then carbon in the filters. Turn the lights out and cover the tank.
I agree, wanted to emphasize that if he is going to retreat do a large water change.
