so ive been trying to drop food by my datnoid when he comes out of hiding and moves but hes not taking anything, how long should i wait before i need to worry about him not eating?

Fish are cold-blooded, usually have substantial fat stores and can typically go for weeks without feeding. Just keep some feeders in the tank. When he's hungry, he'll eat. No worries.

I have a pvc pipe for my dat to hide in. He used to hide almost all of the time but now he is finally coming out about half the time after being in the tank for a year. He eats raw shrimp like the rest of the fish.

so he came out today and ate some freeze dried krill so i think we should be all good

That's great! It can sometimes take a while to get a Dat to eat non-live food.

heres my dat can you guys tell me what kind he is? and are they top feeders because he eats the krill but not yet the pelets.
