Is my Oscar dying

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
have you had him long enough to know his personality & how he reacts to "change"?
He might be sulking because of lights being different.
might have stuffed himself on feeders and be chilling, not interested in pellets too.
My O acts like a brat after he stuffs himself on special treats, loses interest in pellets.
He randomly sulks about changes or disturbances, not every time.
He's been sitting around bottom of tank all day today. I may have "bothered" him during water change last night.

If it's an illness caused by feeders you should start seeing other symptoms.

+1 to all of that. I wouldnt be surprised if the feeders just spoiled him.

that O changed behavior so suddenly after feeders, I'd try epsom salts first. make him crap alot & clean him out.
Have you seen if he's crapped much since gorging?
seems like parasites would take more time to make him go downhill. but I'm not 100% sure.
Even if it is parasites, cleaning out his guts can't hurt.

He died today. He had a long white thing out of his anus. Kinda looked liked a worm. Should I treat the rest of the tank for parasites?

womp womp womp. It is very hard to kill an oscar. If parasites or bacteria killed your oscar all other fish would have been dead first. Personal care killed it.

Personal care did not kill him. It was clearly a parasite or something. I've been keeping fish since I was 13 I'm am 30 now. I've never had issues with fish dying prematurely. I take extremely good care of them. Don't comment if you have no clue. I was asking for advice not for your criticism. Thank you for your earlier comment.
