is my red terror acutally a red terror? (pics)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
NO that's a Uropthalmus. They're similar in appearance but the spot on the tail is a smaller spot only on the upper half of the tail on the RT. They also have a more washed-out coloration than Festae. That's a cool fish though, be prepared for a mean, nasty, fish killing but awesome pet.

*edit* looks like a male but can't be sure.

well dang it, i was hoping for a real RT, so how well do you think this will get along with my 3" GT? the GT is a female BTW

right now since they are small i have them in a 25t, with a live amazon sword and some drift wood. i plan to go to a 55g when they get a lil bigger. but the GT has about 1.5" on the RT...

The cichlasoma Uropthalmus's common name is the mayan cichlid or false red terror as some say. They don't mix well with many other cichlids and will soon be handing your GT his as$. It's going grow about 12" and need a bigger tank than a 55.

well i know the green terror has been in there for about 4 months already and has doubled in size, but ive had the Uro in there for about 1 month and hanst grown much at all. hopefully it works out, if not guess ill trade th Uro in eventually...
