Is my set up ok for monster fish like arowana, rays?

This is my first post here in monsterfish!

so ive been in hobby for many years but south american fish or arowana, freshwater rays, predator fish are the only ones ive never kept. ive done tropical fish, african cichlids, saltwater fish, reef, etc.

so i have a 265gal 84Lx 30"Wx24"tall tank with 120gallon sump which has about 30-40gal of space for bioballs, 3000gph sequence dart pump, uv sterilizer.
tank is open top with 2 braces in middle. i have a 13"tall canopy and there is maybe 3-4" backwall to tank space. canopy has 4x54W T5 lights.

my concern is do i need to cover the top with some glass or acrylic if i wanna keep arownas?
i plan on keeping arowana, ray, clownknife, redtail catfish.
 
fw ray are illegal in CA if i'm not mistaken... and a rtc will outgrow that tank eventually once he eats the rest of the fish in all likelihood. What you listed are the bread and butters of the large fish world.. ide suggest picking a single fish you absolutely want then people can recommend good tank mates for it. or a particular type, ie personality? color? what you want to achieve with the tank and its inhabitants. well planned your tank is big enough to accomidate some spectacular fish, yet its also easier to overstock such a setup.

no one is really answering my main question which is even with the canopy covering the whole tank top, do i still need to get a glass top to cover tank?

No but I would put something heavy on top, they have huge jump force.

Also, what kind of Arow are you looking to put in this tank? IMO this setup would be too small of a space to house a silver Arowana for life; the tank does however sound like it would be large enough to house a Jardini. Not sure what exactly would be able to be a tank mate with a jar (not much I would suppose), you may have to check around in the ancient fish section.
