Is my setup ok for a couple of rays

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my tanks are over crowded and my rays appear fine however i know this is not good long term. i have been working on a fish room for ever i was suppose to have this done a long time ago. my interest has grown as well as my ray collection. so i am doing water changes twice a week and still have ammonia spikes. watch water quality closely and be prepared to get a larger housing. i wish i was patient and just started out with something big.

Ok thanks guys for all of the responses. The tank is at my house but is not currently set up. we are getting to put it our new living room. I am having it plumbed so that I can turn a knob and the tank will drain and than turn a different knob so that the tank will fill itself up again, so I will be able to do lots of water changes, very easily. Because of all of the filtration and the water changing system that I am having installed, will I be able to add any tankmates at all? If so please suggest some tankmates that will work well in this tank. I am thinking of maybe a few large colorful cichlids, something nice because this will be going in a nice living room. Thanks for all of the help.

Anybody know if I can keep tankmates? I have a thread in the filtration forum about the tanks filtration and media

i wouldnt go for an oscar, not speaking from experiance but they are pretty agressive so i would worry about the ray

Alright thanks, I am going to buy 2 motoros when they are 4 inches and then I was thinking it would look cool to only stock the tank with all different colors of blood parrots that are 2 inches, what do you guys think?
