I looked at the worktable. A sheet of 3/4 ply would work but the price of the bench
. I did check Craigslist for the Victoria area but didn't see anything that would work. Your 75g is a framed glass aquarium as long as the 4 corners are fully supported you should have no issues.
The foam layer is to help cover up rises or depressions in a flat surface. This is more critical with a flat bottom tank like an acrylic or unbraced glass.

You cane see the foam layer under the 220g.
