Is my tank going to burst??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
In the last pics it looks like your tank footprint is larger than the top of your stand. Is this true or is it an optical illusion? Also take more pics similar to the 1st 2 but zoom out a little more. Its hard to tell exactly what I'm looking at with no point of reference And I find your description utterly confusing.

I will post more photos tomorrow.

The stand is covering the entire tank, so it rests on the frames.

Sorry about my poor explanation, English is my third language. I'll provide more info and pictures tomorrow afternoon.

Well in that case your explanation was great. Lol hopefully we will be a better help tomorrow. Have you actually measured it to make sure it is bowing?

It seems like your trim is not straight and because of that it looks like the glass is bowing in. Don't use the trim as a reference, check if the actual glass is bowing.

Btw its normal for glass tanks to bow out a few millimeters.

I'll measure it tonight the glass thinkness.

I can't tell if the tank is bending when looking at it from the sides, but i dont trust my eyes when it comes to this.

How is the center brace? If it's loose it can cause this. Also try to find something long and flat(I use a wooden yardstick(a stiff measuring stick)). Put it against the length of the glass. I check all sides to try to counter any errors(such as the yardstick being warped).

I'm sorry but like the others, I'm lost with the pictures.

Edit: I gave the pics another look and finally can make them out. In the first one it looks ok. The second I can see what you are talking about. I would first suspect it would be the trim doing that but it is better to be safe. Drain the tank until this issue is resolved.

I think its just the trim, not the glass.

I will use something to check the glass is flat or not tonight.

Again, sorry about the poor pictures/explanation.

+1
when have you ever seen a piece of glass that just bends like that on only one edge in an aquarium. million : one the frame is screwy and not the glass. if you have a four foot level and can put it in the bottom of the tank see if it rocks. also do the same thing on the trim if you can flip the tank over. Think about the kind of forces an aquarium builder would have to exert on the aquarium during build to have the glass bent like that.

that bow only happens under force thats why longer tanks have cross braces
