Ya right, blame Petsmart for your lack of reseach on cycling a tank. Maybe you should "man up and take responability for the mess YOU have created. You want to save the fish, then do the required water changes to keep the ammonia and nitrite levels under .25ppm, this may even require daily 50% water changes.

Thank you for this. I was too gutless to say it on my own but I'm glad you weren't. People can't blame PetsMart or WalMart when they didn't do squat for research before buying the fish. Taking the easy way out, blaming the store & playing the victim doesn't teach anything. The only victims are the fish. You had advice from MFK about cycling before you even bought the fish.
You did what you wanted to do. But don't blame PetsMart.

you followed the wrong advise...
i would suggest visiting your lfs and asking them if you can store your fish for a week or 2. they most likely will but you'll have to pay them. most likely a small amount..
i would recommend looking into this since your impatient. can also be a real fish saver.

this seems like a really good product..im wondering though, shouldent i be able to take a filter from a lfs and put it in my tank, thus creating the same outcome?

"Seeding" from an established tank filter will create the same outcome, but with a products like the above, the time to cycle your new filter is supposed to be shorter...
Also look into "Bio-Spira"... it has to be kept refrigerated until use and I have heard nothing but good things about it. You are supposed to be able to keep fish immediately...

Plus I would never buy a single thing for my tanks from petsmart or petco. Probably 75% of all of there fish have Ich even feeders. There stuff is way to over priced, I mean come on 25$ for a pack of plastic plants? Lets be serious.
