I use Thera A for all of my fish. I also feed Ken's fish color flakes, frozen bloodworms, and live mealworms and super worms.
Is New Life Spectrum all that?

The literarture says that you are suposed to feed NLS exclusively to your fish in order to meet their nutritional requirements and avoid any digetive complications. Does anyone avoid feeding everything else and use only NLS?

Unless you are feeding Koi food to your fish.. Then NLS is right on or cheaper than the main stream foods in the stores... 5 LB's Is quite a bit of food.. If you think about it..
Hikari and others are on or above 10.00 For 8 oz.... THere for.... 10 of those to equal a 5 LB bucket of NLS... And that is 100.00.... Most LFS I have been to that have the NLS sell the buckets for at most 70.00....
So... Plus the LFS that I found smaller NLS in the 16 oz were 16.00 - 18.00
Which would put it at the same prices as most the foods everyone here uses..
Infact the Favorites Like NLS and Hikari are in many cases cheaper than the foods offered at the lfs..
Such as HBH which usually ranges from 6-9.00 for 6 .5 oz ... Do the math... Infact put the current foods in your house to the math test.. Chances are you really aren;t spending more on the NLS Or Hikari for that matter... What seems to be the cheaper foods are actually more spendy from my experience..
EXCEPT where some use the Koi pellets as they are like 10.00 for 2 pounds!! But I don;t use those..
WOW I was just at 3 LFS and All the Off brand foods were twice as much to 5 times as much per oz !!!
I feed NLS 99.9% exclusivley. Sometime everyone gets a treat. I think the real intention is to have NLS as the staple of the diet. I like to treat my fish with algae wafers 'n such.
I buy all my pellet food online and even with the cost of shipping it's less than half my lfs' pricing. NLS is great for some fish like omnivorous cichlids but personally I don't think it has enough protein for pure carnivores. I use Massivore for them.
Spectrum is great for your fish, i feed it as a staple for all my cichlids, would rate it in the top 5 as i also feed hikari cichlid bio gold+ and massivore delight which are also TOP foods.
