The thing is, there are some people who can feed smelt, goldfishes or other feeder fishes. They may look nice and healthy on the outside, but who knows what internal or long term problems the fish will face

I think variety is the key but with that being said mine refuse to eat anything but hikari biogold.

Recently I have been hearing a lot of people post that feeding freshwater fish fillet's from saltwater fish healthier for them due to them being less prone to catching any saltwater fish diseases.
How do you guys feel about this practice?

Saltwater hobbyists do this all the time with live feeder fish for aggressive meat eaters like Lionfish. They feed them live freshwater feeder fish because they cant catch freshwater diseases. Its pretty common.
