Is red maple safe to use as driftwood

Some good advice from a man in the know regarding stick lickin'. Be careful of getting splinters in your tongue....and watch out for bird ****!

Seriously though Rtc/tsn Rtc/tsn . As others have mentioned, make sure the wood is well dead and dried out (making it sink can bring up some challenges), and whatever you do, DO NOT go climbing trees that you know to be part dead. You do not know how far the dead weakened wood has travelled through the branches, and you will come a crashin' down!
Also the bird crap is just extra flavor ?
