Yes to the clay pot, make sure it's big enought for Rocky to get in to fertilize the eggs. But also make a cave/retreat for the female to get away from the male and rest. If she does like him and decides to spawn she will need some time to actually grow the eggs to lay them. This takes a few days.

Are they ALWAYS going to lay egg's? Do they ever eat them?

First couple spawns dont expect a lot from them. Takes a few trys before they get it all right.

Use what ever you have. Just need a spot where the female can get away from the male.
