Is sand an Absolute must with Geos?

Personally I think that the geo fanatics are missing the bigger picture;

I would be worried about the P-Bass beating the heck out of the geos, they are pretty mellow fish.

Keeping geos in a tank with gravel for a few weeks is a non issue, the aggression from a group of pbass would be a far greater concern IMO.
Personally I would hold off on the geos until you have the new tank set up & water quality in check, then add the geos, and once they have fully acclimatized to their new surroundings only then introduce the pbass to the tank.
 
I have PFS in my 180...200 pounds of it :) My geos are very happy to suck it up and spit it out all day long :)

Good point.

Also wanted to say that Geos are not bottom cleaners. If you are looking for something that functions like some catfish, Geos are not a good choice.
