Okay I have a mixed peacock tang tank. I mainly only have males, but I thought this little one was just not mature or not high on status and was not coloring up. Today I found her swimming around different areas with a full mouth. She would not touch the brine shrimp or my NLS or flake. I figured she was holding since she is healthy and her mouth looks full.

Here are some sad attempts at pics. I take better ones, but not this early in the day...

Looks like she is. I had a similar situation w/ a healthy, feeding female. One day she just stopped eating which was very unusual. Then noticed her spending a lot of time hovering by a small cave in some rocks. I saw a few fry but they were gone in about a week. There is too many fish in my tank to allow for fry to grow. That was the only time she had ever held eggs or fry. Do females sence that there might be to much compotetion or danger in the tank that would cause them to stop reproducing? After she laid once it has been over 6 months and no signs of reproducing. Just wondering if fish can sense if a tank is safe to raise young or not.

Most def. looks like it to me =)

when they ignore the food they are usually holding..let us know:)

It looks like she could be, really not a clear enough pic. If she is her buccal area will look swollen or puffed out. Also if you watch her you will see her roll the eggs around in her mouth.
