is shrimp good for freshwater fishing?

Yes it is, ive caught thousands of lbs. of catfish on frozen raw shrimp. Tip, take off the shell and tail. Less likely to get hit and spit. The shell makes it a little more durable, but without the shell the fish seem to take it more readily.

cheap saltwaters shrimps is one of my allround favourite baits.
It works both in salt and freshwater.
When I go fishing just for fishing and not for catching due to nice wheater or a short amount of time,I always take some mussel and shrimp with me out of the fridge(fishfood).
Here it results in almost anything, but mostly carp, bream eel perch and zander.
The pike in my avatar was 40inch long and was caught on a piece of mussel used to catch baitfish. Also caught several small pikes on shrimp.

Good bass bait too

I have cought bass and cod on live shrimp, fish go crazy for it, id say anything with a mouth wide enough will go for shrimp.

Most fish will prefer live bait over dead.

awesome for catfish

I use Shrimp and Squid all the time for Catfish. My Bro-In-Law makes these cornmeal dough balls inside of pieces stockings or something that he uses for Catfish and always gets hits.

But then again I've watched him stick a cigarette butt on a hook and get a catfish so maybe the catfish around here don't care.
