Is Snappy Too Fat?

Well, if it came to us starving and Snappy for supper ... turtle and dumplings, lol.

As long as he is not grossly obese I am okay with a lil' chunk Methos. I was just worried Snappy was way too fat.

Biohazard's snapper is a teenager? I guess they would get mean and nasty at that age, lol. Hormones can be bad, just ask my poor husband.

yeah he is a teen. only about 2 years old. i love him. he actually still has a decent temper. dont get me wrong he will bite me if i give him the opportunity such as sticking my finger in his face because he is a snapper by nature lol but he doesn't like come after me. i still hold him and pet him. he loves his head and neck rubbed. once hes out of the tank he is very calm. but ive had him since he was a lil bigger than a quarter. couldn't have been more than a few weeks old. he was sitting in the middle of a rural road by my brothers. no where near any body of water. the closest was over 6 miles away and it was a small stream. no clue how he ended up there. he got brought to me running around in circles in the the bottom of a gas station soda cup. my brother was just like "um you like turtles dont you?" as he handed it to me.

no he is fine. my snapper is fat lol but i dont have to shove anything down his throat he is much obliged to do that himself. lol he has lost a lil weight since that pic but he doesnt like his diet. he sits on his butt and smacks the glass when he wants food. very smart lil bugger.

They're so cute at that size. It's good that you're doing your research and keeping an eye on his weight. Like stated he looks fine, and as long as you keep an eye on him and feed accordingly you'll be fine. As long as he's not obese all the time he'll be fine, if he gets fat, put him on a diet, if he gets skinny feed him more. You'll get the hang of it.

It'll get easier in a few years when his growth slows down a bit and you don't have to feed as much

Maybe by the time Snappy gets older he won't be so danged fast. It takes a while to slow him down to get a decent photograph.

I wanna surround him with flowers and all sorts of pretty things photoshoot--he wants nothing of it! LOL
