Is Something Wrong With My Hybrid Catfish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Fine is not a number. You'll need accurate measurements of ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH if not hardness as well. And make sure your pH isn't swinging like mad on water change day, too.

PH swings could be something... but, if this was a water quality issue, wouldn't the juvie arrowana and pbass be worse off? Those two fish are not known for their hardiness as juvies.
I get asking about the water, most of the time it is the water. Insisting that it is the water after dude tests it is odd, unless you can say what the cat fish has, and why it has it. Insisting for actual numbers isn't odd but, why just go into every sick fish thread and shout "It's your water you dummy!"?

The only reason I'd jump to water quality or a pH issue is that is exactly what this looks like to me. I'd be concerned the pH is too high or too low, or is its time for a water change. And yeah. I'm sorry they even sell those stupid strip tests. They can be so inaccurate, and unless you have something to compare it against, how would you ever know?

Yeah, I started off with the strips, saw a few threads and got the other kind. Most of the time the results were about the same, but not always. A electric probe type tester is on my wish(to find cheap) list. The API nitrate test is a finicky PITA.

I have one. Very finicky.
