This Cichlid has been on my mind for quite some time and I just havent pulled the trigger... yet:D

If there is a diff, what is it?

They are hybrids? Didn't know that

yeah they are definitely hybrids, so you will get your answer about quality and grading and all that in the hybrid section as most of us here would have no clue, my guess would be no they aren't the same though

It all depends on who you talk to. The A,AA,AAA grade is something people usually use to grade fish. "A" being a nice looking fish where "AAA" is show quality. As far as the SRT goes, ive seen some fish labeled as red texas that look better then a super red texas. Usually the super red is actually red where a red texas is more of a pink to orange color. I bought some fry that was labeled as SRT about 2 months ago so Im hoping that just one fades into a super red. The mom was a super red and the dad was a nice looking escondido. I can post some pics of what mine look like if your interested. Some have hella pearls and others have none. Im still trying to figure out at what size they are going to fade so if anyone has more info i would appreciate it.

Yeah, def post some pics :D

Mods pls move to hybrid section

Tough question. SRT is a term while grade A says quality. Most normal "red tex" are carpintis, to bring out more pearls. Quality goes on what your looking for. Delicate Pearl, Small Pearl, Big Pearl, Brain Pattern Pearl. The grade AAA in my opinion has to have some Kamfa or red dargon. Usually the reds come from KKBP or RD. The more orange-red after breed better the quality, the yellow and whiter ones are still red tex but only some fish fall under srt.
Redsyn. Red terrors. Blood parrots, RD, Midas, Fh's have all been used to create quality SRT. OHHHH the art of breeding haha.

are you sure red terrors have been used? thats first ive heard of that and i didnt even think they interbred with anything?

Who knows about these folks in thailand sometimes. Festaes will breed with mayans, i know that. But thats close genes. I know somebody on this site has a Fh/RTerror. Tex's can breed with pretty much anything haha, if you havent noticed all the tex hybrids out there.
The RTerror was just something ive heard, but with all these new AMAZING beast red tex's some serious interbreeding is going down.
