Tough question. SRT is a term while grade A says quality. Most normal "red tex" are carpintis, to bring out more pearls. Quality goes on what your looking for. Delicate Pearl, Small Pearl, Big Pearl, Brain Pattern Pearl. The grade AAA in my opinion has to have some Kamfa or red dargon. Usually the reds come from KKBP or RD. The more orange-red after breed better the quality, the yellow and whiter ones are still red tex but only some fish fall under srt.
Redsyn. Red terrors. Blood parrots, RD, Midas, Fh's have all been used to create quality SRT. OHHHH the art of breeding haha.

Oh my, lots of info right there... Thanks. I dont know much about Cichlids and not even enough to ID a common Texas. I seen Charlie (Vendor) has some grade A red texas for 200 and was thinking (still am ;)) about grabbing one.

Thanks Benji for relocating my lost Thread:ROFL:

Grade A= Marketing Gimmick.
$200= Overpriced.

Not necessarily, depends on the size and quality of the fish. We haven't seen pictures of it, so its very possible it is worth every penny.

Im sure you can find much better here on MFK.

There are indeed some members with some nice RT/SRT for sale. Really though if you want a NICE SRT you have to look overseas.

West1 ~ You do know that RT are fairly aggressive right? I'd be cautious about what tankmates you keep it with. Some might not work out so well. Cichlids can be a tricky yet awesome and very rewarding type of fish to keep.

Hey Pt_Pwr! Hows the Suchus?

Here is a pic of him and if I do grab one, he will be in a Solo tank:D

West ~ The suchus are getting pumped up on feeders right now. I mean PUMPED! They go through about 40 rosie reds a week. Thank goodness for my job at the LFS, gotta love discounts! :D Just started this bulking up diet last week, and they are already looking beefyer. :)

Tis a nice Red Tex, definitely not a SRT from those pictures though. Looks like its got some peeling to do still, not much though. If you get it on some krill and maybe some Omega One, and NLS pellets you might be able to bring some more of that color out. He looks rather malnourished though. Perhaps power feed it with Hikari Massivore pellets? They put the girth on fish quickly! Most fish love them as well!

Solo tank is a great idea. :)

Suchus-Nice. I started starving him again trying to get those Massivore Pellets to fall down his pipe :D

Red Texas-Its a thought floating around but I will only react if it is a Super Red Texas :D

Thanks all, case closed ;)

Grade A Red Tex are valued in the low hundred. It's more like a dark orange to a washed out red color. Don't get fooled between a SRT and a Grade A Red Tex.
When you see a SRT, on average they will be worth near $1,000. In other words, high hundreds($600+). I've seen some reaching over $1,000.
If you want an identification, I will give you what you should look for to identify a SRT. Every true SRT should be scarlet color to a almost perfectly red color. They have white metallic pearls all over. This is a SRT, but there is also a different standard between a masterpiece SRT also. Sorry mods I took this picture from Aquabid but I'm trying to educate others here.
