IS SUNLIGHT GOOD For Fish !!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Fish need some light .. tank lights are adequate for this... too much light... like sunlight coming through a window into the tank directly is bad... first it can make the water too warm.. the warmer the water the less oxygen for them to breathe..also could get so warm that it kills them.. also plays havoc on the up and down tempertures.. fish live a quality life in consistent temperture of the water.. the radical change in temps will stress them..and also sunlight causes algae to grow... the op asked a very good question and this is an excellent thread..

Like most animals I think the sunlight is beneficial to the fish, the only thing that could be a problem would be the algea growth like many others have said. I know my fish always seem more active when I raise the blinds and let the sun in than on the days when I accidentally forget to.
