hey there, just have some spending $ lying around, and was wondering if an AC110 is the same/better than a rena XP3, i know its a canister vs a power filter, but, lets say i could get either, whats the better buy?:screwy:

xp3.... lol i myself arent a fan of the ac110 but it could depend on what your needs are and your stock

If you have sand in your tank and fish that manage to kick it up, don't get the AC110. I had one and it was amazing, then switched out gravel for sand. My pleco killed it and no matter how much I clean it (take the impeller out and cotton swap the hole) it still makes a really annoying grinding noise.

I actually like aquaclear, but a canister filter is always going to outperform a HOB in my opinion...

I own two xp3s and don't like them too much. For smaller canisters, I think eheim is the way to go.

well its for a 125 with sand, just oscar and 2 JD's, all juvies. but i have an eheim 2217 and a cascade 700 (SUCKS) as of right now..so just lookin to add another

i use both xp3 and ac110 but on a 125 id rather stick to the xp3 i like using the ac110s on 80 gals and under

ac110 if you arent using sand. ive got one on my 38gal tank :D, it works wonders and keeps the water flowing since my tank is fairly small for it.
