I'm currently running just a protein skimmer and live rock in my tank which I've heard is called a "Berlin system" is this the best way to achieve the clearest water possible or is some other type of filtration needed? thanks.

I think it kind of depends on your tank but tecnically that will work. I know alot of guys have a "water polisher" to clean the tank further. Some guys use a refugium for added chemical and biological filtration.

The UV sterilizer is nice as well...

Whats the best way to keep water crystal clear, from time to time my water will go a hazy whitish colour.

What would be better the Purigen or the Uv sterilizer or both, or would that be overkill
They serve two different purposes.

Get a diatom filter

+1 to heathd's comment.

Purigen literally removes all noxious chemicals from your water...uv sterilizer kills everything in the water.

Purigen is my favorite chemical media, but it runs out fast. Good thing it is rechargeable.
