I was at the lfs today and i seen what i thought was a firewood catfish (Sorumbimichthys planiceps) but the tank said it was a redtail leopard catfish. So I asked to make sure the tank info was correct and he said yes it was ordered as a rt-x-lc. He looked at me like i lost my mind and i could not remember the Sorumbimichthys planiceps name. Are they the same fish or are the different?

whats lc?
how much was it? if it was less then 80$ or so it wasnt a planiceps.

no they are not the rt X tsn. I have to of those hybrids in my tank at around 14" long. these that i seen today look just like the firewood

they are now crossing the redtail cat with the Achara or marbled cat. Thes would not be the shovelnose. If you were to get a pic you can tell by the mouth. Planiceps are hard to come by and are very distinct.

The RT + LC are a little less common than the RC and TSN

oh you mean marble by leopard!!! im used to leopard being what people call RTCxTSNs. if theyre only 20 bucks and they really are red tail marble hybrids buy all of 'em lol.
