Is the online retail fish market saturated?

If you can get product nobody else has, or get what everybody else has at a lower price, you're in business. Otherwise, it's going to be tough. You need to start out by defining what's going to set you apart from your competition. That's pretty much the deal with starting any new retail business.

I don't completely agree with the red part of your statement. There is one fairly well known online dealer that I would never do business with again that frequently has unique stock at a good price. Communication is so poor I don't care what his stock or pricing is.

I think that if you sold the same fish as other online retailers, but if you had better pictures, more up-to-date website with very recent pics, you'd clean up. I know that's easier said than done, and it might end up requiring a full time photographer posting pics and vid's for people, but that'd certainly make it easier on me as a buyer.

I think if you could start small, maybe be the source for one or two very popular species (midas, jag's, Bifa's), you may be able to do it in your spare time while holding down a regular job.
