I love bichirs I think they are super pre-historic looking and I really like that. I have one ornate and one senegal. Both at about 6". The senegal is the only one that is always swimming around. He rests at the bottom every now and again but for the most part he is active. The ornate is 99% of the time just sitting at the bottom. The one quality I look for in a fish before I buy it, it is active! Does anyone know about this? Is mine just lazy?

Bichirs aren't for you if you want really really active fish.

My delhezi swims around a lot, but my 2 senegals just loaf around mostly. I think it depends entirely on the individual fish.\

You might also try lower light, less water movement (don't underfilter, though)

Think they are mainly like that,my p pollis were active too.

My senigals are both active. I've been so busy lately that I didn't realize how much they have grown and how FAT they are lol. I would like to add some more when I run accross them here.

my sen is the same. smallest in the tank but he is out 99% of the time. my ornate hides in a big cave as well as my del and palmas( although he is scared of my ornate!)

Senegalus is very active. Palmas Polli and Endlicheri are just as active.

Sens and Palms Polli and Del. are cative but my Endies are in spells some time and then not warm water seems they like to move more but I know the Ornate my brother has is all over the place my not so much.

it'll depend on the individuals, but if you just pick a random individual, the species that are most likely and most often active are palmas polli and senegalus.

My 2 sens swim a lot, My ornate just kinda swims low. Also like someone above me said dont have too much water movement, they seem to not like it.

Well i have a wave maker in my 220 and im wondering if i just keep it along the surface will they be ok with that or leave it off till they get larger. Ill be getting mine this weekend at about 2" long
