Yes, I have sand with a bit of pea gravel in all my tanks. I like the texture that a bit of gravel gives, but will never have an all gravel tank again. Sand is so much easier to keep clean and just looks better IMO.

So my video upload was a fail. Basically, my freddies and argentea grew out together from very small, which is a good method to TRY for compatibility with aggressive species. Them being housed together is a temporary grow out situation hoping for pairs to form. The black belts ignore the other cichlids probably because they are so much smaller. They are just straight scared of the cutteri.

I will be getting my Argentea from the same place I got my Bocourti. It is a lady and her husband here in colorado. They are called American Cichlids

it is a pain in the ass to switch a tank from gravel to sand, especially large ones but after switching to sand i can definitely say i would never go back to a gravel tank, its soo much easier to clean and IMO looks better just make sure you don't get play sand and get pool filter sand or you will be cursing your tank like no other haha

I have a 10" female argentea. When she was much smaller, she did not care about other fish. Once she got about 6", she had a problem with anything equal in size or larger. She continues to ignore smaller fish, but will randomly attack larger ones. She has not killed anything, but has nipped fins and scales.

What size tank and what kind of tankmates are we talking about?

I'm trying to set up an 4" Argentea with a 10" Midas and 8" Pearsei in 210g (72x24x29)... So I'm just looking for a comparison, for a better idea as to the fit of this fish in my tank.
