is there a species of datnoid that is pure black??

There only black cause they change there color to that. Dats are normally gold bodied with black bars. But they can change there color so the dats you seen where probably ITs or STs depend on size and where you were at gave it such a high price. A dat is less favorable to most people and sometimes worth less depend on you location. The nice gold body,nice black bars, etc that effects the price of dats. I like all dats so stable or unstable it doesnt matter to me.
 
I have two dats that are jet black when the lights are on. when the lights are off they're more of a brownish color, but more on the darker side.
 
Your chart said there is an American Datnoid. Never heard of that and has anyone seen them available here in the States.

I have occasionally seen black Datnoids once and a while, someone posted a picture of a large Datnoid that was all black. If that was its natural colors I could not say.

Not all over the body , but yes, my old one did have a small patch of pink/copper shine . Just in underside of mouth region. It's hard to describe....
