Is there a way to improve the color of my oscar?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hikari Cichlid Gold and Bio-Gold+ worked wonders on my oscar. I got it when it was 2 inches and was a totally washed out brown until 5-6 inches when I started feeding it Cichlid Gold. It's around 9-10 inches now and has Deep Shiny Red scales. You'll notice a color difference after feeding it for a month. I've also Heard NLS and Omega One are good too, but haven't tried them yet.

It depends what size it is becuase if you buy it when it is a juvenile and feed it color enhancing foods like Hikari Gold it may turn more black or brown becuase that is its true juvenile color but as it grows and gets older there will be more color that comes out and he will become bright..GL

Treats like krill/shrimp or any crustaecen will enhance the redness

x2. Keep 75 % of the diet a quality pellet, your choice, and then the rest can be other foods, like krill, bloodworms, earthworms, etc.

Cheers,
