One of my fish has it all over it's body but it looks more dust like than I remember ich to look.

Point the flashlight on it. Does it have gold glint as well? Could be velvet.

What are water parameters?
Tank size?
Fish?
Which fish was affected?
Temperature?
Maintenance schedule?
Foods?
Quarantine regimen? When was the latest fish bought and how long was it quarantined?
What other symptoms have you observed?

Neutral PH,ammonia and nitrite levels are present but low, sixty gallon tank. There are two other fish in this tank,a 1 inch datnoides, one other peacock bass. The other fish don't seem to show any symptoms.78 degree temp.Once weekly gravel suction and fifty percent water change. The other peacock eats feeder fish but the one in question has not taken anything yet in the three days that I have had it. The dat eats small chunks of market smelt..The sick bass is the most recent addition to the tank and was'nt quarantined.I did aim my flashlight and did'nt notice the gold glint.

The other cause of this issue is poor water quality actually. This can happen when your fish become increasingly intolerant to ammonia and nitrite. How low are the ammonia and nitrite? It would be a good idea to do another water change until both are back zero, then add a teaspoon of table salt per gallon and keep water well aerated.

I'll have to get better test kits as the API MASTER KIT that I use is pretty old and I don't even have the color cards to go by.I will do a change pronto.Thanks.

It could be any number of things when you introduce feeder fish into your tank, "IF" they have been quarentined prior.

I have to agree with Lupin, Most probable cause is velvet. Any sign of ammonia can be very dangorous to your fish. As well as nitrites.

In the meantime id suggest cranking temp to 85degrees and 1tbs of salt per 5 gallons of water. This will kill MOST parasites. If you see no improvement in the next couple days you may have to resort to a stronger medication. First thing is first though, Get your ammonia and nitrite to 0 to give your fish the best fight chance.

You should never have ammonia or nitrite present in a healthy system.

Any amount of ammonia, especially above .25, and especially with a neutral or higher pH will stress your fish. Any amount of nitrite, especially above .25 will stress your fish.

Your description sounds like velvet whether it glints gold when you shine a flashlight on it or not.

Have the nitrites and ammonia presence in your tank been a long term thing, or just showing up now?

For the immediate time I would suggest adding something like Prime to neutralize the nitrites and ammonia, and then doing water changes to bring them down to 0.

Thanks for the advice everyone.I guess that the filtration is not cutting it in this tank, eventhough there are only three fish here and none of them are over four inches in length and I don't think I feed them as much as some feed their growouts.I have an Emperor 400 running as the sole filter but I will be looking to try something else to combat the ammonia......I have removed the fish and have them in a ten gallon with aquarium salt in the water.

I've run emperor 400s and there's no way you should have ammonia levels if it's cycled.

How long has it been running? I'm thinking you haven't built up a colony of bacteria yet.

If it's been running for more than a month or two with fish present in the tank you need to start looking at your water parameters and determine why you're not getting bacterial colonies.
