I always use the fine green netting off of an old fishnet I got from LFS and go in circular motion gets off everything very easily and quickly.

I think that's because the vertical movement generate less water movement within the tank compare to movement in other pattern.

i was also thinking that would be the reason but at the back of my head, maybe just maybe there is still another explaination.. cheers!
