If u want pleco try the galaxy bristlenose pleco they are wide and larger than the common bristlenose pleco. Full of spines as well. They get to 10". Also u can try the gold spot pleco. Commonly seen in stores and are always miss labeled as common plecos. Lots of people who thinks they have common plecos with bichirs are actually not a common pleco but actually a gold spot pleco.

I have personally kept 3 common plecos with bichirs over the years and have never had an issue. I watched a large one try to settle on my senegal once, but the bichir put up his spines and the pleco never tried it again. It might depend on the individual more than you,d think.

Can u post pics of ur pleco? Probably not a common pleco but a gold spot pleco. I kept many types of plecos for almost 10 years and also done mix which can do well with gaoid scaled fish and never had succeded with any common plecos especially sailfin plecos.

so..the conclusion is,most pleco will not work with bichir, execpt bristlenose and gold spot plec?i think i will skip these guys, cause i think my fish can swallow these two plec, especially my aro and gar,and it will just injure both of them.i think i will just clean the tank manually like some of you guys suggestion

yeah, really just depends, i have a common pleco and he doesnt do anything.

dont think a 25" gold spot pleco L001(Pterygoplichthys joselimaianus) can b eaten by ur aro or gars

They are often mix with common plecos and sailfin plecos in many LFS but and are sold with the same name. Often people post pics here they claimed that they succesfully mix bichir and gars with common plecos for years without issues are actually not common plecos but gold spots plecos. Easy way to tell them from common plecos is that the spots are gold not dark brown or black. Can easily mistakely for a common plecos if you're not familiar with plecos.
