check out their feet, if they have clawns, they need rocks, if they have fins.. then they are usualy full aquatic.. RES need dry spots.. YB is kinda like a RES... so once again... land needed.

check out fly river turtle... they are full aquatic!

I think it's one of few true aquatic turtles.

ohh cause i remember a few years ago i used to find little baby red ear sliders in my pool and i would throw em in my tank with my goldfish and they did ok but i guess ill have to look for a pece of pipingg to extend on the filter for my soon to be turtle tank i guess=) thankss

fly rivers are also known as pig nosed turtles, very pricey!

By "ok", I assume you didn't hear any complaining, but it doesn't mean it was proper care. How long did you have these said turtles? Were there any plants or decorations that reached to the top that they could cling to? Regarding your case, miracles can happen, but most sliders and aquatic turtles do need a basking platform of some kind.

Now mud and musk turtles do not require as much land area as sliders since they do not bask, but they still need shallow water. Not like FRTs.

i have a red ear slyder in my 150gal. no rox to hang out on. had him like that for a year and a half? only thing he has to grab on to is the weird hoses like over flow or power head.
