Just as the title says, is there anything a Uaru A. won't eat in your experience? I have a really hard time getting food to my pleco's because my Uaru will eat ANYTHING that goes in the tank. The second anything hits the water it's like a game for this thing, it darts off with it across the tank like it's Jerry Rice or something. :nilly:

Anyone else deal with this? How do you feed larger pleco's without putting a leash on your Uaru? Found a food it doesn't like?

i had an oscar that ws exactly like that i could never get food down to my rtc growout i used to use a piece of pvc pipe and drop the food in it and spot feed the cat the oscar never caught on lol

i used to feed mine twice a day and then a little extra in at night just before lights out. i also found that if you put highly palatable plants in, i used elodea densa, they tend to graze on that and leave some of the pellets for everyone else.

but they are pigs. and no ive never found anything they dont like. i even bought anubias species of plants that are supposed to taste nasty and herbivores generally leave them alone but no they ended up with huge chunks out of them.

Really?? That's not a bad idea, I'll give it a try.

I am trying to keep my feedings down but that makes sense. Maybe that's why. Mine won't touch anubias, has killed every plant in my tank but the anubias which I am glad it doesn't like. My Anubias is huge and I really like it.

The only thing my Uaru won't eat so far is acrylic and other fish.... :irked:

my two tried to eat my silk plants i had in. they try everything. they reminded me of toddlers, if its fits in the mouth then its fair game.

my uaru doesnt eat any pellets... luckily so my geos and my L114 can get some... however he loves hikari cichlid staple pellets after they have been soaked in water... but if they're dry, he'll go nowhere near them..:screwy:

the pvc pipe idea works well, from what i've heard.

Thanks guys. Nice to know I don't have a "one off" fish. What kind of pellets are you feeding that it doesn't like? The plecs are L240 Galaxius so I have been thinking of trying some massivore pellets. They like meaty foods but I can't even get shrimp to them since it's "tasty".

I feed carnivore pellets at like 10:00pm when the lights have been off for a good 4 hours or so... i stand next to the back left corner so the other fish (mainly geos) don't see that Im there giving food... and slowly drop some carnivore pellets into the tank through a little hole...

I have to be sneaky haha...

the pellets i feed during the day that my uaru doesnt eat are Ocean Nutrition Cichlid Omni Pellets, Aqueon cichlid sticks, and some shrimp pellets for the goes and some cories scurrying about the tank..
