Is there anything a Uaru WONT eat??? Arg...

I have a ton of other fish in the tank so it's pretty easy to put enough food in that it'll get distributed all over the tank quickly. If I want to only feed frozen brine shrimp or something, though, I'll use a few chunks, with one that I'll hand feed the Uaru with to distract her. I can move it around a bit and she'll follow it, which gives the other stuff time to sink to the bottom or get spread around.

just feed more :D

i had a tank full of 14 x 8 inch uaru.f and still didnt have problems getting food to my rays or tigrinus cat

I usually drop in an algea wafer or two on the other side of the tank and once the Uaru and sevs start at it I sneak over and try and drop food closer to the plecos. They are on to me though cuz that worked all of about 3 days.

I am going to try the PVC idea and see if that works. Plus it sounds fun, like a blowgun for feeding your fish! Blowguns are SA anyway right? :woot:They were in the Indianna Jones movies anyway...

So I just tried the PVC idea and the food went straight to the pleco. Was awesome. The Uaru still came over hovered over it until it saw it's chance and took it, lasted about 5 seconds. I love it but this fish pisses me off... :irked:

I guess I just get to deal with it and overfeed. I hate the idea of overfeeding, I wish my plecs would just come out and eat like everyone else. Will go the late night massivore feeding route tomorrow.

i know what food they wont eat, i have a friend with two sons that like helping daddy, and one day when we worked a double shift, his wife informed us they tried to feed him Mcdonalds hamburger chunks.

sorry if you meant "specialty" prepared foods meant just for fish :P

:ROFL::ROFL: I won't even feed my kids McDonalds food but thanks!

Totally off topic but that reminds me of my 6 year old, I had a heater break on his 29g when I did a WC and forgot to unplug it. I asked him to be quite for his fish while I went to the LFS to get a new one cause they might get stressed and cold. When I got back there was a sock in the tank. He told me he took off his sock and put it in the tank for his fish to have a "warm place" to hide till I got back...

Yeah he's a good kid so I couldn't get mad. He was trying save his swordtails in his head. At least I know he listens because he knows fish needs heaters and filters. Or a sock in the mean time... LOL!
