Is there anyway to level out a tank thats already set up

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
shims are my bet, but be sure to shim the item the tank is resting on vs the tank it's self. I have a precise cut peice of plywood under my tank, and shim the plywood vs the bottom of the tank

Depending on what size your tank is and what type of stand you have - you might try using a car jack - just brace it so it lifts that side evenly and securely.

might try hammering a shim as suggested, sounds like my only bet at the moment

then shim it - dont just leave the jack under the your tank, lol

If you decide to do this one, please set up a video camera first. Because if you accidentally put too much pressure on the tank, the ensuing waterfall would be pretty cool to post.

Jack up the house! J/K!

1/4" is not worth worrying about!

There's never enough time to do it right, but there's always enough time to clean up the water after your tank breaks.

Pounding a shim under a corner while it's full of water will stress the tank. Will it break? Probably not, but it could. The best way to do it is to drain it, shim the low side, and also shim along the entire gap that is created with progressively thinner shims.

Use a level when you initially set up your tank and you won't have this problem unless the floor is sagging.
An 1/8 to a quarter is no big deal.

My house is old and crooked, I have a 3/4" shims under the front of my 120's stand.

Shim it during your next water change... do a 50% water change or more and then do it... unlevel tanks are fine as long as the surface they sit on are flat, but its annoying if its not level.
