Is there something wrong with my birchir

My 5 in. senegal does the exact same thing. Sometimes he's at the top and sometimes he's at the bottom. When I got him it was pretty hard to find something that he would eat. I tried ciclid pellets, fish flakes, and even reptomin pellets. Then I decided to try a cricket. I threw it in and 10 seconds later, my bichir swam up and grabbed it. He ate two that day. So I would recommend giving him a cricket to see if he would eat.

I would say that it's normal behavior. My Retropinnis did the same thing when introduced to my tank. He stayed at the top of the tank and he seemed to have trouble with his equalibrium. His tail end would float above his body. He eventually gained it and began staying at the bottom of the tank. He's fine now but I too was worried for a while. Your bichir should be fine.

my little seneagl hangs at the top for the most of the day, occasionly going to the bottem for a few min. he eats anything meaty.

what's the best time to feed them...I noticed that when I drop pellets they seems to don't know where it is they look like dogs sniffing until the pellet is near the mouth and takes it..I have too distract the clown loaches so that they'll leave something for the birchirs...are they noctornal and more active when the lights are off????

That exactly what oneof my ornates is doing right now. the other two, the twins, sit on top of the heater guard facing opposite directions all day. Have only had them a week and they arent aggressiv feeders yet but we will see.
