Hi guys,

I'm not sure if this m.maingano (i think male, just not coloured due to dominant male, and no females in tank...correct me if i'm wrong) is ok. For some reason, it's mouth looks wierd. Any ideas why? Also, I didn't see it eat anything last time I fed them (will check again).
I understand that holding females won't eat, and their mouths will look bigger, but this is a male, right? (hopefully you can see it ok in the photo)

Thanks

I have never downloaded a picture before but i'm gonna give it a shot.
This is our Melanochromis Maingano.

This is a male and the female is usually a diiferent color, almost a baby blue.
Your's might be a different kind of maingano, the blue ones are all i'm familiar with.

Yeh, the other one's like that (see video), but this one lost its colour a few days after I bought it, a few months back, so i figured that its because the other one's the dominant one, and because theres no female maingano's (only 2 males, and a male aurateus for melanochromis)

I agree looks like a holding female to me. I'm not sure of the species but really does not look like a maingano to me. Could be a female M. Johanni. M. Maingano is often called electric blue Johanni. They are very similar just the females are a bit different.
