I have a 125 with a variety of fish. Mostly barbs and bala sharks. A few clown loaches. And a few other fish. Is there a dwarf cichlid I can safely add to this tank that would be more interesting to watch? I have seen a few and the people at the lfs say "ah they will do fine in your tank" But I would like to make sure?

bolivian rams are pretty badass
german rams are better but harder to keep
aggazzis are cool but mine always got bloat so i gave up em
cockatoos r bad ass but pricey
krib- i think there over rated

out of all id say bolivian. there hardy for little guys and when they fight they kinda rear back like real mountain rams haha, i got 2 and im gettin more

I think zippy barbs and bala sharks could stress out some dwarfs so you could possibly get some of the larger species, dont be afraid of them at all :) I would poss go for something mid sized like a Blue Acara or a Firemouth or some kind of relative :)

Smaller Acaras, Laetacaras or Krobia depending on what else you have you didn't mention would do well in a 125. The Bala Sharks and clown loches get really big and might throw the sematry of the tank off IMO, but if you like them I guess they wouln't hurt anything.

Blue rams. Hands down my favorite fish under 5 inches.

Well I got the bala's when I was a little niave. I will probably trade them off eventually. We shall see. I have several other tanks to move things around to. And I am hoping to find a bigger tank eventually.
