Is this a Bahia kel or mono?

Bahia. Anal fin has spangles and head shape indicates bahia.

That sounds like a textbook definition of Kelberi. I doubt Kelberi are that distinct between the Brazilian states they are collected from at juvenile size. Even the super developed Kelberi (specially Sao Francisco, as they are claimed to define earlier and more than others at younger sizes) are found commonly with the same amount of development as a Kelberi located from a different collection point i.e, Bahia. Not saying you're wrong Tydus, but based off of that reasoning it's more or less a shot in the dark.

@ OP good looking Kelberi, but for a more certain collection point you're going to have to go backwards as far as where you got him/her.

Well of course. OP asked if it was mono or bahia so I pointed out the anal fin spangles which would indicate a kelberi, automatically crossing mono off the list. ;) I don't own any wild kelberis so the peeps who own the recent wild kelberi imports can indicate if there are distinct differences among them or not. Would be interesting what others have to say since they are still at that juvenile stage. Anyways, this is just my opinion, the bass has a duck face and bahias obviously are captive bred widely. This just reflects on their price and availability which leads me to my conclusion. I doubt the fish is wild caught. Why else would OP ask if it was a mono or bahia right?

Looks like the bass being questioned is the same "bahia" in the link below.

It's actually not the same fish in the hyperlink. This one was sold as Bahia at the store and the others were labeled rio araugia

Here are some kel bahias to compare with.

I see what you're saying man, and I agree it would be interesting to know what characteristics if any separate one collection point of Kelberi from the other. I also agree that they are more than likely the most captive bred Kelberi, and available. Haha, some Kelberi hit puberty sooner than others. But realistically speaking I don't know if this is OP's fish, or if this is just a general question or something else.

Depending on how reputable the store is they are probably right as far as the collection point. A wave of Kelberi and Piquiti has hit LFS in North America, well to be fair, I just got back into the hobby so that could have been much sooner.
